Dear Athletes!

It has been almost four years since we first sat down to organize the Scituate Duathlon, and in that short time we have not only become the LARGEST DU in the Northeast, and the 5TH LARGEST in the entire country, but we have also brought hundreds of new athletes into multi-sport racing and raised thousands of dollars for local charities and families.

I am very proud to have started this race. I could not do it without my co-founder Stacey Zawel, my race director Bill Burnett, and my loving wife Angela! They are my pit crew and make this race not only live and breathe, but they inspire me to make it better each year.

We are so lucky to have hundreds of volunteers that make this race one of the most professional, well-oiled races in the sport. Our course is constantly updated to be fast, fun and safe. We pride ourselves on our safety procedures and our local police, firemen and volunteers make that happen. It is people that make this race so special.

Charity and Health are the driving values that make me continue working to expand our Duathlon. Our charities are always local and supportive of our community. Giving back locally is key, as that is where each dollar makes the largest impact. As a doctor, I always encourage health and fitness in our athletes and population. Staying healthy and fit is something I believe is a core value in our society for today and the future, and our race gives each individual a goal and inspires action!

Thank you for your support and involvement in the Scituate Duathlon. If you have raced already I hope you agree it is worth the chase! If you have not tried our race, I hope you will give our beautiful town a shot; you won't be disappointed. And if you have never raced in a multi-sport event, I sincerely hope you give it a shot, I know you can do it!

Now get off the sidelines, and start training. We'll see you on the course in 2012!
